Radionuclide Risk Assessment for an Industrial Site

Gradient assessed human health risks at a manufacturing facility with elevated levels of radionuclides in the U-238; U-235; and Th-232 decay series in some soil locations; due to uranium ore storage on a nearby property. Gradient's assessment addressed inhalation; incidental soil ingestion; dermal contact; and external gamma-ray shine. We provided risk estimates based on both cumulative exposure and cumulative cancer risk. The risk assessment also formed the basis of a "Site Management Plan;" whereby the site could continue in its current use; with the caveat that soils would not be disturbed until the soil was remediat
