Bryan S. Pitts, M. Eng., P.E.

Mr. Pitts is a licensed civil/environmental engineer with over 10 years of experience managing multidisciplinary projects that require broad expertise in performing environmental field investigations; designing, implementing, and managing remedial construction projects; and evaluating historical waste practices. Mr. Pitts has provided technical assistance and litigation support in the areas of insurance cost recovery, cost allocation, and toxic torts. For litigation cases, he has researched and interpreted manufacturing operations, historical waste practices, regulatory requirements, and environmental studies and remedies to determine standard of care, contamination causation and timing, and/or remedy reasonableness at numerous industrial sites. These include former manufactured gas plants (MGPs), petroleum storage and transfer operations, electrical equipment manufacturing, chemical manufacturing, and nonferrous metal smelting. Mr. Pitts has also assisted clients with strategic remedy planning, remedial cost estimation and cash flow modeling, as well as with third-party technical review and interpretation of environmental reports. Prior to joining Gradient, Mr. Pitts planned and participated in environmental studies and remedies, including the investigation, design, and/or management and oversight of construction at seven former MGPs and a number of other hazardous waste sites.
